Retirement Coming Soon: Oracle Database 11.2 Extended Support Ends December 2020

Even the best-maintained machines will eventually fail – humankind has yet to invent anything that lasts perpetually.

Software programs, including databases, are human-made, and they will all eventually fail, too, as time, innovation, and necessity demand better options. One benefit of a software program over other types of business tools, however, is that its ‘End of Life’ is often both predictable and predicted.

Oracle has announced that December 2020 is the date that extended support ends. Customers relying on 11.2 for their database needs need to be thinking of next steps in the case of total database failure.
