Data Summit 2022 - Unwieldy Tech While Developing a Common Strategy
How the CIO of a P&C Insurance Company Tackled Its Data Management Strategy
This presentation from Tom Hoblitzell, VP of Data Management for Datavail, and Vincent Sasso, former VP and Deputy CIO, P&C Insurance Company, was conducted at Data Summit 2022, and provides a real-life overview of how an organization approached streamlining and implementing their data management strategy.
The former deputy CIO for one of the 25 largest property and casualty insurance companies in the world was faced with the challenge of its business units running their business intelligence and analytics reporting on an ever-growing number of disparate tools and systems. From Informatica to Business Objects, SAS to Power BI, OBIEE to Hadoop, the company needed a way to not only reduce its costs in managing these disparate tool sets but also develop an integrated data strategy that would align the business units with one source of the truth and lead the company into the future. The former deputy CIO will discuss the challenges of previously running the business on the myriad of tools, while planning the data management strategy for the future, and the roadmap to get to that strategy.
